We stayed at Gocce di Capri hotel on the first night of our 72 hours on the Amalfi Coast. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay! The views are breathtaking; however, the hotel is a bit far from everything!
Getting to Gocce di Capri Hotel
This little slice of heaven is located on the north side, towards the tip of the peninsula.
Coming from Rome, we took the train to Naples. From the train station, we took a shuttle bus to the airport to pick up our rental car. We decided to rent the car from the airport since we’d be returning it there early in the morning, before our flight to Malta.
Alternatively, you can take a train or bus from Naples to Sorrento. Then, take the blue Sita bus Sorrento-Nerano route. You’ll get off in Termini and walk five minutes to the hotel. You must purchase your bus ticket in advance from a tabacchi (tobacco shop) or edicola (newspaper stand).
If you’re up for the drive, we’d recommend renting a car for your time on the Amalfi Coast. You could rent it from the airport or train station in Naples.
Arrival Experience
Upon arrival, you’ll see for yourself what makes this hotel so unique. Its picturesque views will take your breath away. The entrance is gated, so we were buzzed in, quickly found parked, and then welcomed to the hotel. Because we stayed in May, it was a bit before their peak season, which made things less busy. For us, this was great because we were looking for a relaxing stay.
The Room
This was probably the best part of our stay at Gocce di Capri. We reserved a superior hotel room, which included a private terrace with sweeping views of Capri and the Gulf of Naples. The room was stylish and comfortable, with all of the necessary amenities. The room had a mini-fridge, private washroom with shower, twin/double bed, air-conditioning, satellite TV, and Wi-Fi. Also included in our room rate was a continental breakfast!
Food & Drink
Because of the hotel’s more remote location, you should really plan to stay, relax and enjoy the hotel’s amenities. We enjoyed dinner at Tonno & Campari, the hotel’s restaurant. Tonno & Campari serves a delicious fusion of classical South Italian flavours in a contemporary Mediterranean style. Of course, as you’d expect, the view from the restaurant makes everything that much better!
In the morning, we enjoyed a continental breakfast at the hotel before embarking on the rest of our Amalfi Coast journey. Breakfast consisted of your typical meats, cheeses, fruit and pastries!
Gocce di Capri Hotel Features
The standout feature was the hotel’s pool! You don’t get much better views than what you have there. In the summer, we’ve heard the hotel throws some amazing pool parties! We were a bit early, so we didn’t get to experience that, but that just means we have to return again!
Value
In our opinion, this is the perfect case of getting what you pay for. The view was truly priceless. We paid $150 USD and felt like our experience warranted that price tag. Of course, because of the time of year we visited, we were able to get a reasonable rate, and the hotel wasn’t terribly busy!
Location/Getting Around
Upon arrival, we walked to the neighbouring village, Termini. Here you’ll find more great lookouts, restaurants, and shops. Again, because of the time of year, we visited, some of these places were closed or had closed earlier than usual.
Punta Campanella Hike
From Termini, you can hike to the very tip of the Sorrentine Peninsula. The hike itself is about two hours and 2.5 mi (4 km) roundtrip. The hike to the point is considered easy – fairly level, running through the Amalfi countryside to the coast.
If you’re looking for something more challenging, follow signage to the peak of Monte San Costanzo. This peak offers breathtaking views of Massa Lubrense, from the Gulf of Naples to the Gulf of Salerno and Mount Vesuvius in the distance.
Bring snacks and water with you; Termini is the last place you’ll be able to purchase anything!
Our Final Thoughts about Gocce di Capri Hotel
Madison: The view is what really made our stay, and we’d return there because of it. This is certainly a spot to go to relax. I don’t think we’d stay more than a couple of days, because you are a bit limited with things to do in the surrounding area.
Liam: It was a great hotel, with great views.. but not a lot to do in the area. If you want to just relax, this is the spot for you!
