Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano has it all! This family-run B&B has been on our minds since we left Italy. Before arriving in Positano, we stayed at one of the best hotels in the world, but Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano stands out as our favourite from this trip. That has to say something. The B&B has the perfect mix of cute Italian charm, comfort, and breathtaking views, not to mention that Manuela and her family make you feel like a member of their family.
Arriving at Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano
The hotel was easy to find. Like many places in Positano, there are no large signs or fancy lights, so it’s good to have a map/GPS if you’re driving and an idea of what the place looks like (Google Maps Street View always comes in handy for this). There were four parking spots; we pulled into one, walked inside, and met Manuela.
From the second we arrived, we felt like we were at home. Manuela asked a few standard questions and was willing to help us with everything. After a crazy drive, we finally felt at ease. I think Manuela could tell because she offered to take our car keys, fix our parking job, and carry our massive luggage up two flights of stairs for us! Being a small B&B, there isn’t an elevator, but someone is always there to help. Plus, there are only three storeys, so you never have far to go!
Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano Rooms
There are only nine rooms in the entire B&B, which allows for a relaxed, intimate experience. All of the rooms are refurbished and brought up to a modern, Italian standard. Everything was simple and clean, exactly how you’d envision a little B&B in Positano. We stayed in a triple room, which was perfect for the two of us, but would have fit three people comfortably. But what surpasses the beautiful room is the view. WOW. It gets better! EVERY room at Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano faces south to the water! We can assure you that waking up to that view every morning was the best way to start our day. All of the rooms also have free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, cable television, a safe, mini-fridge, a private washroom with a shower, and a lovely balcony or terrace.
Location
Shortly after we arrived, we revisited Manuela to get information on the local area – where to go and things to do! Born and raised in Positano, we couldn’t have found a better concierge and person to ask! She quickly gave us a map, answered our questions, and we were on our way! The hotel is about 15 minutes (walking) to the main beach in Positano. And the walk is perfect. You can either walk along the road and stop at all the shops, or take one of the shortcuts (with a lot of stairs) that will lead you to the main beach – whichever you prefer!
As for the immediate area around Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano, there are several shops and restaurants, which are less busy than near the main beach. Across the street is a grocery/liquor store as well, which came in handy!
Getting Around Positano
There’s also the Positano “Interno” bus that runs all through Positano – it picks up and drops off just up the hill (one minute) from the hotel. Because Positano has only one one-way street, the bus makes a loop that takes 20-30 minutes (depending on traffic). The bus costs €1.30-€1.70, and you can purchase a ticket onboard (with exact change) or in some of the shops near the main beach. We recommend at least using the bus to get back to the hotel!
Food & Drink
Breakfast
Continental breakfast is included with your stay at Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano. The best part? You can choose to have your breakfast in the lobby, OR they will deliver it to your room for you to enjoy there (for free)! We decided to enjoy breakfast one morning in the lobby and the other in our room. It’s a continental breakfast, so there are fewer options, but everything we got tasted great – a nice selection of meat, cheese, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, and juice!
Nearby Restaurants
The extended family of Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano owns two nearby restaurants – a seafood restaurant, Ristorante Mediterraneo, and an Italian restaurant, Ristorante Saraceno d’Oro. For staying at Hotel Villa delle Palme, you’re given a 10% discount at both restaurants. We were able to enjoy dinner at Ristorante Saraceno d’Oro, and it was delicious! The mozzarella was perfect, and according to Liam, this was the best pasta he had on the whole trip! We went late in the day, so unfortunately, a few of their popular dishes and specials weren’t available, but that means they’re good, right?! The best part of our dinner was Pepe – let’s just say we got to enjoy dinner and a show – he was hilarious; we shut the restaurant down with him and a few Americans.
Update: we’ve since revisited Positano, and while Hotel Villa delle Palme was sold out, we did get to enjoy Ristorante Saraceno d’Oro, which was as good and entertaining as our first visit!
Our Final Thoughts about Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano
Liam: Hotel Villa delle Palme Positano was the perfect place to stay because of the view and location. You are close enough to the main beach, and the view itself made Madison happy the whole trip!
Madison’s Opinion
Madison: In addition to the gorgeous views and great location, the best part of Hotel Villa delle Palme was getting to know Manuela and her amazing family. If you want to make the most out of your stay, really take the time to get to know them!
